O.T. Calvin Dies

O.T. Calvin, 76, died Thursday, Feb. 22, (1951) at the home which he and his wife established on virgin soil nearly a half century ago, near Trading Post. Funeral services for this well-known Linn County farmer were held at the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by by Rev. J.H. Anderson, of LaCygne. Donald Burnett was soloist and body bearers were sons and nephews, Verne, Forrest, Clarke, Homer, Lee and Clifton Calvin.

Otis Taswell Calvin, son of Jackson and Elmira Calvin, was born in Trafalgar, Johnson County, Indiana on March 24, 1875. Feb 12, 1898, he married Maggie Phyluria Church, and to this union four children were born, Verne of White City, Helen Juanita Gibson, of the home; Forrest Otis of Kansas City; and Clarke Lowell of Grandview, Mo.

Maggie preceded him in death on July 25th, 1947 only a few months before their golden wedding anniversary. Otis and Maggie are survived by all four of their children, and five grandchildren; Billie Eugene, Nina Marie, Noel Ray, Norma Lou, and Corby Otis. Also surviving Otis Calvin are two brothers, Dillard of Pleasanton, and Lonzo of Oaklnad Ca. and one sister, Lillie of Independence, only three of an original thirteen children.
