In 1938, Dorothy works for the Meyer Sanitary Milk Company. In 1940, both she and sister Jane worked at Meyers. The Kansas City Kansas Directory of 1945 lists Dorothy as a store Manager for Kroger Grocery & Baking Company, and living at 726 Washington Boulevard with Orville.
Dorothy died at the height of the New Year’s Blizzard, 1979. Approximately two and a half feet of snow fell in Kansas City from New Year’s Eve 1978 to January 2, 1979. It was bitterly cold. Her burial was delayed until the ground thawed enough to allow a grave to be dug. She was buried in Bethel Cemetery in March of that year.
