The 1870 Census of Hazel Hill, Johnson, Missouri places George there at the age of 2. The family probably didn’t move to LaCygne, Linn, Kansas until after Jane’s death in 1877. The 1893 directory puts George in Fort Scott at 812 East Wall Street. He is a railroad fireman.1896, George is a fireman for the KCFS&MRR. He lives at the corner of 1st and Wilson. 1898, and George is a fireman for the KCFtS&MRR. He and his father and brother William H. live at 1024 East Wall Street.1902 directory has George a fireman (railroad). He lives at 203 Blair. Fort Scott, Kansas City Directory of 1905 reports George working as an inspector for the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad, and that he is a boarder at 121 North Judson Street.

George Simpson Dead

Funeral services for George Simpson, an Illinois Central engineer who died from apoplexy on Friday afternoon, will be held at the residence at 601 North Neil street at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Mr. Simpson is survived by the widow and one son, Darrell, his mother, who lives in Nashville, Mo., and two brothers, William and John of Ft. Scott, Kan. He was a member of the B.L.E. at Clinton. He had lived in Champaign 12 years.
