1930 Topeka searched through all of Ward 4, Ward 2 through page 58 of 274 John was a restaurant manager in 1920 at 239 Jackson Street; also Topeka, according to the Census. 1916 According to daughter Frances’ obituary, the family moved to Topeka from Jarbalo in 1916. The 1910 Census indicates John owns a mortgaged home (Farm schedule 2) Topeka, Shawnee Kansas and may be a veteran, possibly Civil War. He is a Railroad Ticket Agent.

John H. Snavely, 78, died Saturday in a Kansas City hospital. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Effie Snavely, of Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Pansy Patton, Kansas City; Mrs. Myrtle Crawford, Topeka; Mrs. Elsie Eaton, Santa Barbara, Calif.; one sone, James, Los Angeles.

The funeral will be held at 4 o’clock Tuesday at the grave in Topeka cemetery. The body will lie in state at Shellbarger’s chapel until until the funeral hour.

Effie’s funeral notice indicates she was born in Canada, and came to the U.S. when she was five years old. Effie first appears as the widow of John in the Kansas City Kansas directories in 1938.
