The 1930 Census of Kansas City, Wyandotte, Kansas has the entire Patton clan at 1615 Wood Ave, plus Eugune Baxter, age 7, nephew born California; and Doris Baxter, age 6, niece, born California. Their father was born in South Dakota and their mother was born in Nebraska. Are these Elsie’s kids?

Notes for Thomas Robert (Spouse 1)
Tom and Pansy were married in Leavenworth County in 1914, (Dorothy was born in Jarbalo, Leavenworth in 1915) but Tom didn’t live there as of 1910 The Census of 1920 showed the Patton family - Tom, Pansy, Dorothy and Paul, living at 134 Van Buren Street, Topeka - just around the corner from Pansy's family at 123 Jackson Street.1925 Tom may have lived at 700 West 1st in Topeka - I have a Death Certificate of a Robert Patton d. 1/25/25, buried in Leavenworth, the informant is a Thomas Patton of that address 1930 is the first year that Tom and Pansy live in Kansas City, Kansas. They live at 1615 Wood Avenue. In 1932, they live at 1951 North 14th Street. In 1936, they’ve moved to Mattoon Road and Muncie Blvd. The entry for Rudolph Chopp, Dororthy E.’s first husband is at the same address. 1938 through 1941, Tom and Pansy live at 1400 Wood Avenue. By 1942, they have bought the house at 1501 Garfield.

Several conflicting reports as to T.R.’s birthplace. Hoping that a report from the funeral home, in lieu of a death certificate, will help. Nope, just says “Missouri.” I will go back yet one more time and dig into the 1900 Missouri Soundex. 1964 Tom’s obituary shows interment at “Chapel Hill Cemetery” instead of the correct Bethel Cemetery in Leavenworth.

Tom went to California during WWII

Kath and I drove through KCK 8 apr 2006, and the house at 1501 Garfield no longer exists.
