Clarence A. Simpson, 82, Mount Vernon, Wash., died Thursday September 26, 1991 at the Skagit Valley Hospital and Health Center, Mount Vernon. He was born October 18, 1908, in Fort Scott, the son of William and Ada Simpson. He was raised and attended schools in Fort Scott, graduating from Fort Scott High School.
He married Mildred Lucille Sheehy Dec. 20, 1931 in Fort Scott. She preceded him in death Oct. 16, 1965.

Mr. Simpson moved to Mount Vernon in 1967.

He married Erma Schroer March 23, 1971, in Sumner, Washington.
Mr. Simpson was a meat cutter by trade. While living in Cherryvale, Kan., he owned and operated a frozen food locker and grocery store. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Family Bible Fellowship Church, a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge, and was an avid bass fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Erma of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Betty Simpson, Coffeyville; and Earl Roger and Judy Simpson of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, Barb Heller, Wisconsin; Vernon Hart, Sumner Washington; Harold Hart, Bisbee, Arizona; Larry Hart, Mount Vernon; Virginia Hart, Kirkland, Washington; sisters Gladys Wurtz, Kansas City, Missouri; and Dorothy Coleman, of Mesa Arizona; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. today at the Kern Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, with Rev. Lloyd Hawkins officiating. Concluding services followed at the Hawthorne Lawn Mausoleum, Mount Vernon.

Memorials are suggested to Oncology Research, in care of Dr. F.H. Stutz, Skagit Valley Hospital and Health Center, 1415 E. Kincaid Street, Mount Vernon, Washington, 98273.

Kern Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, had charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Erma, at home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Betty Simpson, of Coffeyville, Kan.; and Earl Roger and Judy Simpson of Mount Vernon; six stepchildren, Barb Heller, of Wisconsin; Vernon Hart, of Sumner; Harold Hart, of Bisbee, Arizona; Larry Hart, of Mount Vernon; Virginia Hart, Kirkland; and Karen Heyer of Gig Harbor; two sisters Gladys Wurtz, of Kansas City, Missouri; and Dorothy Coleman, of Mesa Arizona; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and a special niece, Mary Virginia. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
