WOMAN DEAD AT NINETY
Mrs. Tempie Jane Capps Died Last Night , After Paralytic Stroke
- Funeral Tomorrow
A life time more than ninety years in length came to an end last
night at 11:20 with the death of Mrs. Tempie Jane Capps, who
made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Betty Lee of 1104 East
Wall Street. Mrs. Capps was born in North Carolina on May 4,
1825, and was therefore aged 90 years, 10 month and 24 days.
Notwithstanding her extreme age, she had always been in good
health until three days ago, when she suffered a stroke of paralysis.
Owing to her age, it was plain that she could not survive, and
death has been expected hourly since she was stricken.
The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha Brown
and Mrs. Betty Lee, and by one son, Thomas Capps.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from
the home of Mrs. Betty Lee, 1104 East Wall Street, Reverend W.
W. Richmond officiating, and the remains will be taken to the
Center Cemetery, northeast of the city.
