LUCINDA BROWN DEAD
Old Resident Passed Away Early Today at the Home

Mrs. Lucinda Brown, a resident of this vicinity for 40 years, passed away this morning at 12:25 at the family home, 1320 East First street, following a lingering illness of carcinoma. She had been bedfast for three weeks. She was the widow of J.M. Brown, a Civil War veteran who died January 19, 1927.

Lucinda Beck, daughter of Mary and J.C. Beck, was born in Ohio, January 24, 1858, being 75 years, eight months and four days of age.

She is survived by one son, Frank Brown, of Fort Scott, and two brothers, J.W. Beck of Iola, and J.F. Beck of Osawatomie; also by a nephew, Henry Leonard Dale, Fort Scott, and a niece, Mae Thompson, El Dorado, Kas. One daughter is deceased.

Mrs. Brown was a memeber of the Holiness church. She had many friends and was always interested in their welfare, and ready to help those in need.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Cheney Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ray Kimbrough. Interment will be made in the Highland cemetery at Iola.
