Harrison Brown, 89 years of age of 502 North Roney Street in
Carl Junction, died at 5:10 o'clock Satrurday afternoon, March
30, at a hospital in Grand Prairie, Tex., where he had been a
patient for more than one week. Mr. Brown was visiting his daughter,
Mrs. Delsie Owens of Duncanville, Tex., at the time of his death.
He was born November 24, 1884, at Fort Scott, Kan., and had lived
in Carl Junction for the past 30 years. He was a retired miner.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, are three other daughters,
Mrs. Daphne Coneau, Mrs. Daisy Oliver and Mrs. Delphine Gilbin,
all of Joplin; one son, Ray Brown, of Dixon, Calif.; a brother,
Tom Brown, of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Ada Simpson of Fort
Scott, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon
of this week, April 2, at the Roney Funeral Service Chapel in
Carl Junction. The Rev. Lonie Adams, pastor if the United Pentecostal
Church of Carl Junction, officiated, and burial was in Carl Junction
Cemetery under direction of teh Roney Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Ed Russell, Jack Vokl, Jack Reed, Arthur (Bud)
Smith, Lester Shira and Tom Hansford.
Music for the service was provided by Miss Betty Maddox, soloist,
and Miss Sheila Bowman, organist. Selections were "In The
Garden" and "Whispering Hope"
